Krista Henery joined WLFI in November of 2011 as a multi-platform journalist.
Before joining the WLFI team, Krista spent four years serving as a reporter, anchor and producer at WEIU-TV, a PBS-affiliate in Charleston, Illinois.
Krista earned her degree in journalism from Eastern Illinois University in 2011. She grew up in the Windy City, but after spending four years in central Illinois serving the small communities with local news, Krista says she’s now a “country girl” at heart.
During her time at WEIU, Krista won numerous state and national awards for her reporting, including four student EMMY awards. In 2011, Krista was awarded first place by the Illinois News Broadcasters Association for “Outstanding Television News Reporting.”
What Krista loves most about reporting is being able to meet new people every day and tell their stories. If she can make a difference in at least one person’s life with every story she tells, she knows she’s doing her job!
While in college, Krista also spent six months studying in Australia, where she concentrated on international broadcast news. However, she found plenty of time to explore and travel the “Land Down Under!”
When Krista isn’t at work, she loves exploring the outdoors, cooking new recipes and hanging out with family and friends. She also finds joy in running. Krista ran two half-marathons thus far, and her ultimate goal is to eventually run a full marathon.
Krista is happy to call the Hoosier state her new home. She can’t wait to continue exploring the state, and to meet more Indiana people.
Feel free to drop her an email with any story ideas happening in the Greater Lafayette area.
