LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Food Finders Food Bank Executive Director Katy Bunder expects the organization to pass out seven million pounds of food by the time December ends.
Once the holidays are through Bunder said donations become scarce. The organization’s history has shown a decrease in donations after the holidays, but Bunder said the need only gets worse.
People struggling to make ends meet may face high heating bills and holiday debt after Christmas. In addition, this year those using food stamps saw cuts.
Bunder hopes a new monetary matching challenge from the Hussman Foundation will help raise money for more food as the winter continues.
“That grant will match increased donations and new donations dollar-for-dollar through Dec. 31st,” Bunder said.
Only online donations will be matched. Click here to donate.
