LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – One woman was injured after a short pursuit lead to a crash at North Ninth Street and Sagamore Parkway in Lafayette Thursday evening.

Tippecanoe County deputies got a call to check on the well-being of a driver at Ninth and Widewater.

When Deputy Jared Kirby arrived he saw a white car which matched the caller’s description.

He checked the vehicle and the driver sped off.

“I put my emergency lights on, it failed to yield, and it took off north on Ninth Street and it crashed into the 52 bridge,” said Kirby.

The pursuit lasted less than half a mile.

The female driver was taken to Franciscan Saint Elizabeth Central hospital with unknown injuries.
