Purdue suspends classes, offering counseling

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Purdue University has suspended classes through Wednesday. Purdue is offering counseling services to students in the wake of a fatal shooting Tuesday on campus at the Electrical Engineering building.
Purdue Student Government is holding a candlelight vigil Tuesday at 8 p.m. between Hovde Hall and the Engineering Fountain.
University officials said counselors will be available to talk with students, faculty and staff Tuesday night from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. They will be in the resident assistants’ resource room in the south towers of Cary Quadrangle, the Tarkington West activity room, Shreve Hall Jade Room and the Purdue Village community center.
Counseling will also be made available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through the Dean of Students Office, 207 Schleman Hall, or by phone 765-494-1747.
Services will also be offered through Purdue Student Health Center’s counseling and psychological services. The health center has an after-hours number available from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 765-494-1724.
