Lafayette police investigating body found near Wabash River

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)- The Lafayette Police Department confirms they are investigating a dead body found on the Heritage Trail near the Wabash River. Emergency crews are near the Harrison Bridge investigating the scene.

There is no identification on the body or a cause of death.

Police have been searching all week for missing Lafayette man Neal Bastian. Police said the 25 year old was last seen on the morning of Jan. 18 in the 1200 block of N. 13th Street in Lafayette.

He was wearing blue jeans, a green zip-up jacket with a fur collar and a black stocking cap. Bastian had told family and friends he was going fishing and was carrying a backpack and fishing pole.
