LAFAYETTE, Ind (WLFI) – It’s officially tax season. Some of you may be comfortable filing them with no help. For those who are not, there is place you can go.

The Lafayette Urban Ministry is offering free filing assistance for low-income earners living in Tippecanoe County. People can sit down with a tax professional and make sure everything is done correctly.

All you need to do is make an appointment, bring in your tax information and they will do the rest. LUM Tax Assistance Director Sandra Dunn-El said they are here to help.

“We kind of help them relax. We let them know that it’s OK and we understand the rules. They are not difficult for us. We want to be a servant to you. To help you get that complicated situation taken care of. A lot of people do think that it is confusing,” Dunn-El said.

The volunteers will electronically file and you can get your refund directly deposited within two weeks. Due to the large number of participants, the program is by appointment only on weekdays. Walk-ins are welcome on Saturdays.
