INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – More than 100 Speedway convenience stores were cited by the Indiana State Excise Police after they say the stores sold alcohol on Christmas Day. According to state law, it is illegal to sell alcoholic beverages from 7 a.m. on Dec. 25 to 3 a.m. Dec. 26.

The investigation began on Dec. 26 when the excise police received an anonymous tip about a Speedway store in South Bend that sold beer on Christmas Day.

The month-long investigation resulted in the citations of 109 Speedway stores. Police say Speedway headquarters cooperated with the investigation.
