LPD offers women’s self-defense course

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The Lafayette Police Department is offering a self-defense course to women in our community. LPD says the Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women.

R.A.D. is a women’s only course available for ages 13 and up. The program begins by teaching awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance. It then progresses on to the basics of hands-on defense training.

Each student will be provided with a workbook and reference manual. LPD says this manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for to use in continuous personal growth.

LPD is offering the next course on March 3 through March 5. R.A.D. is a 12-hour program and attendance is required for all three sessions.

Classes are from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Lafayette Police Training Center, 1301 South St. in Lafayette.
