LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – 2013 was a record-breaking year for Food Finders. The organization distributed more than 7 million pounds of food last year. The record breaking amount eclipsed last years totals by more than 740 thousand pounds.

Food Finders received so much food last year, they had to turn away more than a million pounds of it.

Food Finders Assistant Director of Marketing and Development Amy Gaulke said they were surprised to see such a high number.

“It’s just amazing. Everybody here at Food Finders is shocked that we’ve been able to hit this amount. We’re really thrilled that we’re able to get this kind of food out the door,” said Gaulke.

Gaulke said within the next 18 months, Food Finders would like to expand or move to a bigger building. Gaulke said current building is only meant to hold about 3 million pounds of food.
