Lake County sheriff’s deputy arrested

CROWN POINT, Ind. (WLFI) – A Lake County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with official misconduct.

Sam Orlich Jr., 43, of Crown Point, a deputy with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department since March 2005 was indicted, Thursday, Jan. 30 on a charge of official misconduct, which is a Class D felony.

The Indiana State Police conducted a criminal investigation that started on Sept. 19, 2013. The investigation into Orlich followed a report of alleged sexual misconduct from a Lowell woman.

Orlich has been on administrative leave during this period.

Orlich was booked into the Lake County Jail. He has since been released after posting a cash bond Friday.
