TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – UPDATE: Duke Energy has restored power.

Around 9 a.m. Saturday morning, Lafayette Police department and Lafayette Fire department were dispatched to State Road 38 and Veterans Memorial Parkway after reports that a transformer was on fire.

There were no injuries reported. The cause of the transformer fire is unknown.

According to Duke Energy, more than 1,300 homes were without power after the transformer fire.
