INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A line of cameras faced DeAndra Yates as she sat inside IMPD’s homicide unit Monday afternoon. The mother made an emotional plea for her 13-year-old son’s shooter to turn himself in.

Yates’ son is an honor roll student who loves to play basketball. She says he attended a house party supervised by adults when an unruly guest fired shots into the house.

At least one of those bullets went into the house and hit the 13-year-old. He was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in critical condition.

Police have made no arrest in the investigation, and are now asking for leads.

“Keep your babies close to you,” said Yates.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IMPD at 317-327-3087. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers of Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477). Callers may also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274627 (CRIMES).
