INDIANAPOLIS (WLFI) – Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and other Midwestern governors are asking President Obama for help with the propane shortage.

The letter, from the Midwestern Governors Association, asks the president and federal agencies for any help to increase propane supplies.

In a press release to News 18, Gov. Pence said Hoosiers continue to face severe propane shortages and extreme weather conditions, with no relief from either in sight.

“In recent weeks, the State of Indiana has acted decisively to alleviate the impact of this crisis on the people of this state and now encourages the federal government to take every possible action to relieve the supply shortages and ensure families, farmers and business owners can heat their homes, barns and businesses,” said Pence.

The governor has already taken some action for the state, including the declaration of an energy emergency and waiving propane transportation statutes. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
