WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)- Indiana School of Medicine Lafayette is preparing to move into a new building this summer.

The school will move to Lyles-Porter Hall in July. The new building is located on Purdue’s campus near the intersection of Harrison and University. It is three times larger than their current location at Lynn Hall.

Assistant clinical professor Gerald Wehr, M.D. said he’s excited for the move.

“We’re all very excited. New building, new equipment [and] expanded spaces, I think it’s going to be a great addition to the community,” said Wehr.

It is has been a historic year for the school of medicine. This year marks the first year that the school has had fourth year students.

Once they move into their new location, the school can accept more students. This year the school accepted 20 first-year medical students. Next year that number will grow to 24 first-year students and about 60 students total. However, with the new space the school could bring in as many as 32 first-year students each year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
