REYNOLDS, Ind. (WLFI) – A boil order is in effect for the town of Reynolds after multiple water main breaks Monday morning. One of the breaks has caused a major highway to close.
Town Board Vice President Chris Fullerton said the boil order should be in place for at least three days.
Fullerton said some houses may be without water until Tuesday morning.
U.S. 421 is now closed, just two blocks north of the U.S. 24 intersection. Fullerton said crews had to dig a massive hole on 421 to get to the main. But even after hours of digging, they couldn’t break up the frozen road enough. He said 421 in town will be closed for most of the day Tuesday.
Fullerton said passenger cars and trucks will be fine on side streets. However, there is not an alternate route for semi traffic as most streets in town are very narrow.
