Crews respond to explosion in Attica

ATTICA, Ind. (WLFI) – Multiple crews are responding to an explosion in Attica. The call came out just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Attica Mayor Robert Shepherd said the building at 701 S. Perry Street was involved in an explosion.

Police believe no one was injured.

Initial reports state the explosion is believed to be due to a gas leak. A police officer on the scene said there was a strong smell of gas in the back of the building.

Shepherd is calling this incident a “tragedy.” The explosion happened at a Families United building. It is an organization to assist individuals.
