Victim’s name released, one arrested in Eighth St. shooting

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The Lafayette Police Department has released the identity of the victim involved in a Wednesday morning shooting on Eighth Street in Lafayette. They also report one person has been arrested in the incident.

According to police, the name of the victim is Colbyn Eylens, 18, from Lafayette.

As News 18 previously reported, Eylens is at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.

LPD reports an arrest has been made of a 17-year-old male from Lafayette. The juvenile has been charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, false informing and two counts of theft.

Police said all subjects involved in the shooting have been located and interviewed.
