2013: Billion dollar year in Greater Lafayette

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The year 2013 was a record-breaking economic year for Tippecanoe County.

Greater Lafayette Commerce said capital investments last year totaled $1.02 billion. Most of the money, $566 million, is from 11 industries, including expansions at Heartland Automotive, Nanshan and Subaru of Indiana Automotive.  There were 79 capital investments worth at least $100,000.

The area also sold more than 2,000 homes.

Officials said those figures passed Marion County’s by more than $450 million.
