BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – An Indiana University basketball player was taken to the Monroe County Jail early Friday morning on preliminary operating while intoxicated charges.

According to officials with the Indiana University Police Department, around 3:11 a.m. an officer with IUPD drove up behind a vehicle, driven by 21-year-0ld Hanner Mosquera-Perea, on Dunn Street at 3rd.

Police say Mosquera-Perea was southbound on Dunn and had his left turn signal on. It appeared he was going to turn eastbound on a one-way westbound street, but did not. Mosquera-Perea then turned his signal off, and proceeded at a slow rate of speed down the road, weaving in and out of the lane and hitting a curb.

The officer then stopped Mosquera-Perea’s vehicle. He was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Jail on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated with endangerment and operating with an alcohol concentration equivalent or greater than .15 percent.

According to the Official Website of Indiana University Athletics, Mosquera-Perea is a Sophomore forward on the men’s basketball team.
