Two arrested after early morning police chase

CASS COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Two people were arrested after a police chase early Sunday morning.

Police said it began just before 3:30 a.m. on State Road 25 near Fulton County Road 500 South.

Police said they stopped 29-year-old Misty Griffin of Michigan City, for driving 10 miles over the speed limit. While officers were checking identification, Griffin sped off, traveling at more than 80 miles per hour.

A pursuit lasted for about seven minutes.

Stop sticks put down by a Cass County sheriff’s deputy eventually stopped Griffin, near State Road 25 and Cass County Road 350 North. Griffin was taken into custody.

Police said her passenger, 42-year-old Rogelio Pedro of Logansport, refused to exit the car. Officers were eventually able to detain him.

According to police, the two face a combined five preliminary charges, including resisting law enforcement. Griffin also had two outstanding felony warrants from LaPorte County. She remains incarcerated in Fulton County Jail.
