Senior grocery program survives with $10,000 donation

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Food Finders Food Bank is getting help from a Lafayette business. Saint Anthony Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is celebrating its 10,000th client by giving Food Finders a check for $10,000.

The money will be going towards the food bank’s Senior Grocery Program. Food Finders delivers food once a month to seniors struggling with hunger.

Saint Anthony Business Director David Sanders said giving to Food Finders just makes sense.

“We wanted to give back to the community in some way, since the community has given us so much. We’ve donated this money for the Senior Grocery Program. Of course, we thought it was an excellent fit with who we are, ” Sanders said.

Food Finders Executive Director Katy Bunder said this donation came at a perfect time.

“We got a grant to do it. The grant is about to run out and we weren’t quite sure how we were going to continue to fund the program. Saint Anthony called us and said they’d like to make this donation. It’s a significant amount,” Bunder said.

Bunder said this money will fund the Senior Grocery Program for one year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
