LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The victim in Tuesday night’s fatal hit-and-run has been identified as Mark Lee Brummitt, 46, of Lafayette.
The incident happened Tuesday in the 2200 block of Union Street. Police were initially called because a man was walking in the roadway near where Salem and Union Streets split.
When officers arrived, they found Brummitt, whom witnesses said was hit by a car. He had multiple injuries, including one to the head and was later pronounced dead.
Police spoke to witnesses, but were only able to guess about the damage to the car that hit the man. They are still searching for the vehicle in question, which may have damage to the front, passenger headlight.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Lafayette Police Department at 765-807-1200 or the WeTip Hotline at 800-78-CRIME.
