WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (The Exponent) – While many people detest public speaking, improv comedians thrive in such an environment.

Improv is a very unique style of comedy that involves coming up with jokes and situations on the spot. Improv groups take suggestions from people in the audience and create a scene around that idea or object, no matter how bizarre it might be.

Celebrities and former Saturday Night Live actors Tina Fey and Amy Poehler started on The Second City, a group that combines improv art along with rehearsed sketches in a comedic performance. The Second City will be at Purdue at 7 p.m. on Friday in Loeb. Originally from Chicago, The Second City tours other cities.
