LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A Lafayette street closed for a sewer project is now close to being re-opened. The intersection of Kossuth Street and Earl Avenue has been closed since last fall.
Crews have been installing storm water drainage pipes as a part of the Durkees Run Project. The project separates sewage and storm water to prevent sewage from getting into the Wabash River.
Lafayette Water Pollution Superintendent Brad Talley said Kossuth Street will be open within the next two weeks.
“We’re just waiting for the right temperatures and situations, so we can get the concrete back on and the road opened back up,” Talley said.
Talley said work will now start on State Street, just south of Jeff High School. The Durkees Run Project is slated to be finished by the end of 2014.
