LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A teenager is recovering after he was hit by a van in Lafayette Thursday night.

Police said it happened around 5:30 p.m., near the intersection of Ninth and Hartford streets in Lafayette.

Officers said a 14 year old went to cross Ninth Street and was struck by an Ike’s Sewer Services van heading  northbound. The boy was taken to Franciscan St. Elizabeth East hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At the time, no citations were issued because police were still trying to determine if there were any traffic violations.

They do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.

The northbound lanes of Ninth Street were shut down for about 10 minutes while an ambulance was on scene.
