Tippecanoe Co. group prepares for annual D.C. trip

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Greater Lafayette Commerce is planning to discuss financial needs with members of Congress in Washington, D.C.

Every year, politicians and members of  Tippecanoe County’s business community visit the nation’s capital. Funding for transportation improvement projects and the Wabash River enhancement are expected to be on the agenda this year.

Erin Nelson of Greater Lafayette Commerce said Tippecanoe County has a clear message for lawmakers in D.C.

“You don’t have a community that has $1.1 billion of new capital investment for 2013, when people aren’t working together. So, I think that our message of everyone working together for the greater good of our community is a really strong message we can have to take to Washington when we are speaking to our elected officials,” Nelson said.

This year’s trip to D.C. is set for Feb. 26-28. More than 40 people are making the trip this year.
