NEWTON CO., Ind. (WLFI) – It will take crews at least a week, weather permitting, to clear the scene of a train derailment in Newton County.

Officials report the train derailed around 10 a.m. in Newton County, near 50 East and U.S. 24 on Friday.  Multiple cars were detached from the tracks. The train was run by TP&W Railway.

Officials report it is unknown what the train was carrying or what caused the derailment.

No injures have been reported in the derailment.
