Purdue program shows girls oppurtunities in engineering

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Many young girls got the chance to learn about opportunities in the world of engineering at Purdue on Saturday.

The event was catered to ninth and 10th-grade women who have an interest in the field. Participants were able to work with current Purdue engineering students and do several hands-on activities.

Event organizer Jennifer Groh says it’s important to teach women that anyone can be an engineer.

“We’re trying to show them that engineers come in all different shapes and sizes – men, women and love – combining their hobbies with an interest in helping the world,” said Groh.
