FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) – A Frankfort police lieutenant retires amid accusations that he stole nearly $150,000 from his part-time employer.

Mayor Chris McBarnes confirms to News 18 the Board of Works accepted Randy Emery’s retirement letter. McBarnes said Emery had been on paid administrative leave.

As News 18 reported earlier this month, Emery is accused of stealing the money from the BP gas station on State Road 28 near I-65, where he worked transporting money from the gas station to the bank.

Emery entered a preliminary plea of not guilty.

He is set to stand trial in May.
