LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Ivy Tech Community College and St. Joseph’s College are partnering up to make it easier for Lafayette students to further their education.

Beginning in August, Ivy Tech graduates will be able to earn a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting from St. Joseph’s College on Ivy Tech’s campus.

Classes will meet in the evenings twice a week and will be taught by faculty from St. Joseph’s.

President Dr. F. Dennis Riegelnegg said because St. Joseph’s College is roughly an hour away from Lafayette, the two schools wanted to make it more convenient.

“Many students here have families. They have full-time jobs. This gives them an opportunity to take classes at this location, which makes their lives much easier,” said Riegelnegg.

He said they have about 20, or so, students on campus who graduated from Ivy Tech. Riegelnegg said he hopes this partnership will bring in more students from Ivy Tech.

“They needed an opportunity, where they could complete their degree and really advance their lives. It should be a marvelous opportunity for them,” said Riegelnegg.

Students will have to enroll into St. Joseph’s College, but will have access to resources from both schools. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
