VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — A northwestern Indiana judge has sentenced a Portage man to 118 years in prison after he was convicted of nine counts of sexually abusing four young males.
Porter Circuit Court Judge Mary Harper cited the number of victims and incidents in sentencing 39-year-old Christopher Truman on Tuesday. She also said one of the victims has a mild mental challenge and was targeted with particularly severe forms of abuse.
Truman has maintained his innocence and said he plans to appeal.
The Munster Times reported the sentence was more than that sought by prosecutors.
One victim told police Truman routinely molested him between the ages of 11 and 17. Two other victims said the abuse occurred when Truman took them to hotels, where they would swim, watch television and eat pizza.
