New wind farm for Tippecanoe County?

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A wind farm might be one step closer to coming to Tippecanoe County.

At Wednesday’s Board of Zoning Appeals meeting, Performance Services requested a special exception to replace an existing weather tower with a taller one. Planner Bianca Klinker Zaklikowski said the tower is in place to collect data for a proposed wind farm. The new tower would be able to collect more data.

Klinker Zaklikowski said the wind farm has been talked about for years.

“Pretty much you’ll be standing looking at the wind farm in Tippecanoe County, you’ll be able to see the one in White County. So, it’s in the northwest portion of our county,” said Klinker Zaklikowski.

Klinker Zaklikowski expects the filing for the wind farm to happen in late spring or early summer. She said it’s unclear at this time when construction would start.
