INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Family members for Shirley Justice rushed out of the court room Thursday morning after a judge lowered the bond of Christopher Justice, who is accused of shooting his ex-wife Shirley multiple times.

Marion Superior Court Judge Grant Hawkins lowered Justice’s bond from $100,000 to $25,000 with conditions. Justice must return all guns he has in his possession, surrender his passport, and will be under strict GPS monitoring. Once that is complete, Justice will pay 10 percent of his bond, which adds up to $2,500.

“He is going to kill her,” said Sheila Hart, Shirley Justice’s mom, as she left the bond hearing.

Hart told Judge Hawkins that Justice threatened to kill her daughter multiple times dating back to 2008. She testified that she received emails from her daughter stating that if something happened to her, that Chris did it.

Judge Hawkins cited several reasons for reducing Justice’s bond. Including, that Justice had no history of violence after 2008 and that 25,000 dollars is more in line with bail amounts for other inmates accused of these types of crimes.

Shirley Justice is still in critical but stable condition at a local hospital. Attorneys for Shirley Justice and her family are expected to respond to Hawkins’ decision Thursday afternoon in a news conference. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
