Strike Out Suffering benefits Almost Home Humane Society

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Pins were knocked down at Star Lanes Saturday afternoon as part of the annual Strike Out Suffering fundraiser.

The event is the sole benefit for the Almost Home Humane Society. Funds go directly to paying for medical treatment for injured animals before they get adopted.

Executive Director Stacy Rogers said she hopes this year’s added session of bowling can bring in more funds. She said the event is one of the most direct ways to help an animal in need.

“This really provides funding for our program that really helps animals that otherwise wouldn’t get that second chance at a new home, to get better, get in a foster home and then get out and to a new family,” said Rogers.

The amount raised during the event was nearly $14,000. Rogers said the group hopes to exceed this figure through online donations on their website. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
