LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The Lafayette Board of Works approved a $60,000 adjustment to a multi-million dollar project on S. 18th Street.

This summer crews will be widening 18th Street, near County Road 430 South, to County Road 350 South. However, Lafayette City Engineer Jenny Leshney said the project will include a variety of work.

“We are widening the road to four lanes, we’re putting all new storm sewers in and curbs,” said Leshney. “We’ll also be doing new sidewalks, trails with a trail bridge over the Kirpatrick ditch, and a roundabout at 430 South.”

The total cost of the project will be close to $5.4 million. Construction is scheduled to start in July. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
