TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Tippecanoe County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a vehicle slammed into a home inside a neighborhood late Thursday night.
It happened at 11:27 p.m. on the 200 block of Furlong Drive. That’s in a neighborhood off Veterans Memorial Parkway near Meijer.
Deputies got the call from the homeowner after an unknown vehicle smashed through a wall, even hitting a car inside the garage with enough force to move it. It somehow was able to back out and drive off into the night without being seen. Neither neighbors who heard the crash, nor the homeowners, were able to provide a vehicle description.
The three occupants of the home were not injured. The residence sustained heavy damage to the front porch, front bedroom and garage. A tree in a neighboring yard was also struck as well as two mailboxes.
“It’s a very minor curve. The pavement is not slick at all so we’re very curious to know what happened to result in a vehicle go through a house,” said Dep. Randy Martin.
Evidence found at the scene from the suspect vehicle indicates that the vehicle is a late model Chevrolet pickup truck or sport utility vehicle based on part numbers on debris left behind. Deputies believe it will have heavy damage to its front end.
