Going bald for St. Baldricks

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – About 20 people shaved off their hair Saturday morning during a fundraiser for St. Baldricks.

More than $3,000 was raised at the event, which goes toward childhood cancer research, held at Club NewTone.

Christine Lewis organized the fundraiser after seeing there wasn’t a local version of the nationwide event. She says a close friend’s daughter was diagnosed with neuroblastoma three years ago and that she wanted to shave her head in support of not only her friend’s daughter, but the organization.

“The foundation does amazing work. They fund great research and they develop a lot of new studies and keep a lot of children alive,” said Lewis.

Lewis says having a shaved head is also a great way to spread the word about the organization and its purpose.
