LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis and Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski delivered food in the community as part of Mayors for Meals Day.

The event is put on by Meals on Wheels as part of its annual March for Meals campaign. Tippecanoe county commissioners and other local leaders participated in the event.

Executive director Jennifer Shook said she’s excited by how many leaders came out to participate this year.

“Our turnout this year was much better even than last year, so it’s a real indicator to me that the community understands how important Meals on Wheels is and that what we’re able to offer is really an important service to our community,” said Shook.

The event includes a silent auction to raise money for families, who cannot afford the food delivery program.

Auction items include autographed sports and entertainment memorabilia as well  lunch with elected officials.
