MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) – Twin Lakes School Corporation will not be allowing employees to carry guns on school grounds.

At Tuesday night’s school board meeting, members of the board passed a policy banning anyone except police officers to carry a firearm on school property.

As News 18 reported in February, parents and community members spoke in favor of allowing guns on school grounds during previous meetings. They said administrators and teachers should be able to carry a concealed firearm on school grounds in order to protect the children in an emergency.

According to the policy, no school employee or volunteer shall possess, handle or transmit any firearm on school property or at a school activity.
