LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – More than 100 pieces of art created by students from 11 area high schools were put on display at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette Thursday evening.
Creations ranged from paintings to textiles and fabrics and are part of the annual New Artist Show. The show has been put on for the past 35 years by Tri Kappa Epsilon, a philanthropic organization that focuses on charity, culture and education.
Forty-two of the entries were awarded cash prizes. The best in show piece won $250. This year’s top prize went to McCutcheon High’s Abigail Glover for her sculpture Drakon.
Organizers said it is important to give students a platform to showcase their work.
“We support this art show because these high school students, these young adults, have opportunities to exhibit their work. Some of this work is even for sale,” said Ally Goodrich, co-chair of the show.
Artwork will be on display at the museum until April 26.
