WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Local bar owners and alcohol retailers meet with area leaders to talk about liability and fake IDs.

More than 30 people attended today’s coalition at Morton Community Center.

Representatives from the Illinois Casualty Company gave a presentation on how bars can create safer environments and practices.

One of the biggest liabilities was fake IDs. An issue that owners and retailers continue to address.

“When our group started in 2002, we’ve been meeting for 12 years. If you go back and look at our minutes, fake IDs have been addressed almost every time. It continues to be something that we need to address as a community,” said Bar Coalition facilitator Tammy Loew.

To help bar owner and retailers out, members of the Criminal Justice Institute shared resources that could help spot them.

The coalition will meet again next month as they prepare for Grand Prix. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
