Lafayette man faces charges for DWI, killing passenger

TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – A Lafayette man faces charges after driving while intoxicated and killing his passenger.

Jerry Ford, 28, of Lafayette faces charges after prosecutors said he crashed while driving intoxicated and killed the passenger in his vehicle.

Prosecutors said the crash happened in September on Valley Street in Lafayette. Police said Ford initially told them Roxie Johnson had been driving at the time of the crash.

Johnson died after being taken to the hospital. According to court documents, while at the hospital Ford admitted to driving the car and using meth.

Blood samples taken from Ford at that time tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamines.

Ford was faces charges of operating a vehicle with a controlled substance resulting in death, with a prior.
