WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Some of Greater Lafayette’s largest employers come together out west. Purdue President Mitch Daniels delivered a speech Thursday to the National Association of Manufacturers in California.

He said he gets all kinds of speaking invitations, but turns down most because of his workload on campus. He said Thursday’s speech is different because of the impact manufacturing has on Purdue University.

Daniels believed the speech will elevate Purdue on the national level.

“Every company there hires our students, and can,” said Daniels. “And every company there, or many of them, I think of as potential research partners.”

Daniels said he expected to speak to about 300 different companies from across the country.
