WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Harrison High School teachers received a motivational speech from an Iraq War Veteran and Indianapolis Colts spokesperson.
Dozens of teachers filed into the school auditorium Tuesday afternoon to hear Joshua Bleill talk about his story.
Bleill had both of his legs amputated in 2006 after an IED explosion severely injured his legs. He talked to teachers about the difficult road to recovery, which led to him joining the Colts. Bleill said he comes from a family of educators and knows the difficulties teachers can face developing young adults.
“It’s a difficult job and it’s hard. At the same time, what these kids are going through, what they’re dealing with and how much they mature basically counts on those teachers,” said Bleill.
The Greenfield, Ind. native is a graduate of Purdue and said the trip brought back a lot of memories.
