TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Crews along Interstate 65 are working to repair cable barriers. Loose and down cable wires can be seen all along I-65.

Indiana Department of Transportation spokesperson Debbie Calder said it doesn’t take long to repair the cables. Drivers can expect to see those repairs within the next few weeks.

Calder said the winter has been rough on roads and it has kept crews busy.

“The same people that drive the snow plows are the ones that filling the potholes and also would be the same people out there repairing our cable barrier. It’s part of our maintenance crews responsibility. We’ve had to prioritize different things,” said Calder.

In addition to repairs, 10 more miles of cable barriers will be installed in late spring and early summer.

Calder said the section will be installed from about four miles north of State Road 43 to just south of U.S. 231. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
