Young Republicans host candidate forum

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Those who would like to hear more from candidates running for office in Tippecanoe County, will have their chance Thursday night.

The group, Tippecanoe County Young Republicans, is hosting a candidate forum Thursday at the fairgrounds. The forum will feature Republican candidates running for Judge in Circuit Court, Superior Court Four and Superior Court Five, as well as candidates for Tippecanoe County Sheriff.

Each candidate will be given two minutes for an opening statement, followed by three questions with one minute alternating responses. They will conclude with a one minute closing statement.

Young Republicans chairman Shane Weist said the forum is a chance for people to get to know the candidates better.

“The whole idea behind this forum is to allow voters to be able to meet some of the candidates, to hear some of their viewpoints, and just to help them make a better decision when it comes to voting in the primary,” said Weist.

The forum will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Home-Ec Building at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
