City of Lafayette to see lane restrictions

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – As temperatures rise, so do the amount of spring road repairs and construction projects. Some lane restrictions will affect major roadways in Lafayette.

Earth Exploration starts a boring project on Sagamore Parkway N. on Thursday. The boring will affect Sagamore Parkway from Greenbush Street to South Street. This project is set to be complete by Tuesday, March 25.

Stanley Knight, from the Lafayette Engineering Department, said arrow boards will be used to direct the flow of traffic through the construction site. He said motorists need to be aware of surroundings and obey all directional lane shifts.

Lafayette Water Works will be repairing four holes on Sagamore Parkway Thursday and Friday, just north of South Street around Home Depot. Knight said there will be flagmen on site to assist with traffic.

Lafayette Street Department will be closing the northbound lane of Creasy on Thursday and Friday for road repairs. Both daily closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1604 N. Creasy Lane, which is near the Greenbush intersection. Knight said flagmen will be on site to assist with traffic flow during the repairs.

The northbound right hand lane of 18th Street will be closed Sunday. QC Communications will be boring under the Norfolk and Southern rails just south of Brady Lane on the east side of 18th Street. An arrow board will help divert traffic into the remaining northbound. Knight said the lane closure is just for Sunday.

Beginning Monday, March 24 the Lafayette Street Department will be milling Kossuth Street, from S. 18th Street to 22nd Street. The restriction will be daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Friday, March 28. Knight said one lane of traffic will be moving at all times with flaggers on site to assist with traffic flow. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
