Victim’s name released in fatal I-65 crash

WHITE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – The White County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the victim involved in a deadly crash on Interstate 65 this morning.

Sheriff Pat Shafer said they received a call at 3:35 a.m. of a crash on I-65 at mile marker 188, near State Road 18, which is the Brookston exit. He said a semi truck and a Honda Civic were traveling southbound, during which time it appears the Honda struck the rear of the semi.

Shafer says Diane Blackwell, 53, a passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and two other passengers in the vehicle were taken to IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. The semi driver was transported to IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello. All four individuals had non-life threatening injuries.
