Immigration rights activists make stop in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A group of immigration rights activists who are traveling across the country make a stop in Lafayette on Friday.

Members of Fast For Families are trying to raise awareness about the need for immigration reform legislation. Activists Rudy Lopez and DJ Yoon, who participated in a 22-day food fast on the National Mall in Washington, are hoping to see change by traveling the country.

Lopez said by raising awareness in Tippecanoe County, he is hoping to be get the attention of congressman Todd Rokita.

“We’re looking forward to some continued dialogue so we could find common ground,” said Lopez. “We might differ on the details, but we agree on the outcome — that we need a solution.”

Lopez said they will be dropping off a letter at Rokita’s office in Tippecanoe County later this afternoon before heading to South Bend, Ind.
