Neighbors help Indianapolis woman escape fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A woman in Indianapolis escaped her burning home overnight thanks in part to her neighbors.

The fire started around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Kenilworth Drive. That’s on the city’s northwest side. Neighbors knocked on the door and helped get the woman out.

Firefighters say they got a call reporting smoke inside the house. They saw heavy flames when they got to the home.

Two cats did not make it out of the fire.
